Every Street Tells a New Story

Barcelona brings together history, art, culinary delights and a Mediterranean atmosphere in a way that sparks curiosity – and makes it difficult not to want to experience the city for yourself.

In the narrow streets of the Barri Gòtic, you will encounter medieval walls, intimate squares and lively cafés, while Eixample offers broad avenues and Gaudí’s imaginative architecture. Here, the monumental Sagrada Família stands alongside colourful façades, independent shops and contemporary design.

Culinary Delight

The city’s diversity is also reflected in its food: sample Catalan classics at a family-run restaurant, share tapas in a bustling bar or explore food markets brimming with fresh seafood, fruit and spices.

Every Neighbourhood Is Unique

Each neighbourhood has its own rhythm – from creative Gràcia and lively El Raval to the beach life of Barceloneta. A sunset stroll along Barceloneta’s seafront promenade is a real highlight. You might round off the evening with a selection of small plates at one of the many restaurants in El Born.

The seafront promenade was redeveloped for the 1992 Summer Olympics. Many people associate the Games with the legendary song ‘Barcelona’, performed by Queen frontman Freddie Mercury and the Catalan opera singer Montserrat Caballé.

The amusement park, aquarium and zoo are popular family attractions, as are the many activities available on the beach.

Barcelona’s Top 10 Tourist Attractions

Here is an overview of Barcelona’s most visited tourist attractions. At the top of the list is the Sagrada Família, together with several of Gaudí’s iconic buildings and the distinctive Park Güell.

Sagrada Família – Gaudí’s monumental basilica and Barcelona’s best-known landmark.
Park Güell – a colourful park featuring mosaics, imaginative architecture and splendid views over the city.
Casa Batlló – one of Gaudí’s most distinctive buildings, known for its undulating, colourful façade.
Casa Milà (La Pedrera) – a modernist masterpiece with a unique stone façade and sculptural chimneys on the roof.
Barri Gòtic – the Gothic Quarter, with medieval streets, historic squares and Barcelona Cathedral.

Some of My Favourites

The suggested itineraries include admission to five of Barcelona’s leading attractions: the Sagrada Família, Park Güell, Casa Batlló, Palau de la Música Catalana and Sant Pau. We can also enjoy popular public spaces free of charge and admire the distinctive façades of several of the city’s landmark buildings.

El Born – an atmospheric historic district with narrow streets, independent shops, restaurants and cultural attractions.
Sant Pau – a magnificent modernist hospital complex designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Casa Amatller – a distinctive modernist building on Passeig de Gràcia, designed by architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch.
Tibidabo – Barcelona’s highest mountain, known for its amusement park and sweeping views over the city.
Passatge Permanyer – a peaceful historic passage in Eixample, lined with elegant English-inspired houses and well-kept front gardens.
Casa Terrades – a striking modernist building, also known as Casa de les Punxes because of its pointed towers.
